NUTRITION SITE COUNCIL

Each Dining Center shall have a group made up of elder participants that is called the Nutrition Site Council (NSC). It is the responsibility of the NSC to discuss and decide on issues pertinent to the Dining Center. NSC members work with COA members to plan social, recreational, or educational events at the Dining Center and to resolve issues brought by Dining Center participants. The NSC is one way that local elders can take charge of their Dining Center.

The NSC will also elect up to two representatives who will attend monthly meetings of the Nutrition Project Council (NPC). NPC meetings are held at the Walter Salvo House, Conz Street, Northampton. Sometimes it is not possible for a representative to be present at the NPC meeting. In which case it is expected that the Dining Center Coordinator will forward information in letter form to the Nutrition Program Director before the first Wednesday of the month. The letter will outline feedback about issues and food preferences received from participants during the month, and update the NPC about any local dining center news.

NUTRITION PROJECT COUNCIL

The Nutrition Project Council (NPC) was established to advise the Nutrition Project about food delivery and social services throughout the service area. The NPC has no governing authority. It receives information from Dining Center representatives that is reported by a liaison to the Highland Valley Board of Directors.

Through the NSC and NPC, grass roots issues can be identified, voiced and addressed together by local elders and Highland Valley Elder Services.
