RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DINING CENTER COORDINATOR
1. Serve Dining Center meals and deliver home delivered meals to eligible elders.
2. Maintain routine records for each participant that include name, address, telephone number, and emergency contact information. Maintain confidentiality of this information.
3. Recruit, hire, orient and supervise personnel, including volunteers sufficient to operate the program. Coordinate the daily functioning of the Dining Center with local elder control.
4. Set up Task Lists for elders to participate each day in the operation of their Dining Center.
5. Collect, and secure cash donations, and keep appropriate records.
6. Complete routine data and statistical reports for program and meal tracking.
7. Assure that Dining Center personnel are familiar with information contained in this manual and in the “Meal Delivery Handbook”.
8. Assist the empowerment of local elders in the operation of their Dining Center by facilitating the Nutrition Site Council, encouraging their participation in that body, and bringing their concerns to the attention of the Council On Aging and the Nutrition Project Council when appropriate.
9. Assure that there is participant representation at the Nutrition Project Council meetings hosted by Highland Valley. If not possible, comments should be submitted to be read by the Secretary of the Nutrition Project Council.
10. Initiate negotiations with Highland Valley Elder Services around changes to the Dining Center’s location, hours or days of operation, or other significant changes as necessary.
11. Help elders to take advantage of available resources by referring potentially eligible nutrition program participants to Highland Valley’s many services.
12. Work in partnership with Highland Valley to achieve the above goals.
13. Comply with procedures set forth in this manual.
